Trouble with starting and...

I have searched the forums and sort of found similar threads but mine has a bit different.

I got the car about 3 weeks ago, and I thought it sounded a bit funny on start up but I was assured that, thats how they sound, so I thought fair enough.

Then bout 2 weeks later I decided to give it a good clean and polish and I drained the battery so had to jump it.

I think its only happened since I drained the battery that it feels like it dont want to start and takes quite a while to start.

I went out this morning and the car was fine apart from taking bout 6 seconds to start. Then just went to go round a family members house when it went to start but then when click click click like the battery was dead. So went to see my next door neighbor who's a mechanic he then jumped my car and I thought great it works.

I then got into my car and the DSC OFF was flashing at me and the car icon was permanently on and I couldn't turn my traction control on and its raining so I ended up driving side ways everywhere.

But while I was driving the DSC OFF icon went away but the car icon was still on and I still couldn't turn my traction control on. So I was just wondering if this is all related to me killing the battery??

I don't no if it could be related to it but I went out Sunday and went up and down a strip and when I had stopped Smoke was coming from the hood and I had boiled my engine coolant.

Don't no if its related but I'm just hoping I only need a new battery.
Any ideas??

test battery
dsc light normal when you unplug the battery. Fix is: turn key to "on" position (don't start), turn wheel all the way right, then left, then center. Voila!

Thanks, The lights have gone now, and a friend just phoned me asking me to take my car into his work tomorrow and he'll test my battery for me. Hopefully it is just the battery.

Problems sorted, My brother came round to look at a dent on my car and while walking round it, it he said. Why is your boot open. I felt so stupid lol, somehow I had managed to kick or knee the boot button and not realized. So yeh a simple reason why. But I have noticed another problem so going to search round and see if I can find out why before posting.

The DSC and traction control lights were definitely just a dead battery, happens every time you unhook the battery.

Don't feel bad about the trunk, I accidentally pop it when I'm putting my keys in my pocket after locking it and a key hits the trunk button. It's kind of annoying but what can ya do.
