Transmission acts sluggish after long drives

I took my car from Florida to Atlanta on Easter and when I stopped off to get gas and then took off in first gear again the transmission seemed like it had a hard time getting used to the low speed for a minute. It didn't do it past the first take off from a long 200 mile drive at 80-90 mph.

The car does have 50k miles on it and I bought it used but have yet to have these problems. I drove the car 80 miles from where I bought it to get home and I drive to Orlando a lot and never have this problem so maybe it was the extended drive.

What year? 04-05 with 50k, prob time for a compression test. Has it had a transmission fluid service? This Auto or Manual?

it's an 05 and i bought it with 51, and I have about 57 on it now.
It's a manual.

What is a compression test for a transmission do?

Well save that test for last it's just a list of things to check and a few questions. Pretty much all the 04-05 engines are crapping out (seals) and getting the extended Mazda warranty replacement. This is why I said get the compression test. But just have your fluid level checked. Only other thing could maybe be clutch going out. If it was 2nd gear you prob would hear a grind or have a rough shift into gear.
