If you don't have a "DSC OFF" button on the lower left of the dash in front of you (by the light dimming switch), then it's probably safe to assume you have a base model RX-8 in which DSC and traction control are not available. If you do see that button, however; it's a matter of holding the button in for ~7-10 seconds until the traction warning light in the top middle of the tach display lights up.

crap, maybe i dont have it then..cuz where that button usually is who ever had the car before me installed a button for the neon i think..so i just assumed he moved it or something..so anyways to take off the traction control then?

In the series of 4 placeholders, the DSC OFF button and light dimmer are the middle two (I think DSC OFF is to the left of the dimmer switch). If the previous owner removed the switch, then you're out of luck, shy of digging up some nightmarish wiring diagram and figuring out how to disable it that way.

One thing you could do, but I would suggest doing it in an open, safe, (and private) area; try to intentionally slide out the rear tires. DSC will stop the slide in a short order and blink the traction light at you. If you can freely slide, then your car doesn't have DSC/TC.

On second thought, probably the safer thing to do (although my same recommendations stand) is to just try doing a burnout and see if the car tries to stop it.

well ive tried burnout, but my car dosent do it, unless its raining, when it rains i slide all over the place and no light comes on...also if kinda drifter some huge turns for like 10 seconds straight and nothing came on in the dash, i was like sliding non stop and my rpm just kept going up, but no light
