tpms light stays on

just got some new tires installed 1 of them had a bad sensor replaced it now the tpms light stays on before it would just flash.
i was at the dealer they quoted me 95$ to check it out:eek:
can i just reset the memory or something like that or just go to just tires or somewhere similar
i tried the tpms reset instructions in the manual but nothing happend
do i need to remove the key or leave it in?
turn to acc back to off wait 10min drive for 15 min.

If even just 1 is bad or defective, the light will stay on. You need to replace the defective one and your tpms light should come off. Good luck.

how can i pin point which one is bad? I already replaced one.

It's hard to tell from the outside, you need to check the inside too. Bring it to a tire shop and have them check it for you.

1st check your air pressures.

1st check air pressure
then go to the dealer to see if they can reset your tpms by using one of thier tools..
When you got the new sensor put in. they didnt reset the sensors.

Solid would be low or high pressure. Blinking is a malfunction.

There is no need to reset it (and I seriously doubt the dealer does anything special) just put the sensors in the wheels, turn the key on, then off, let it sit for about 15 minutes and you are good to go.

Slightly off topic, what is the life expectancy of the batteries in the sensors? My 8 was built 5/2003 and my TPMS sensors still work fine.

WindtalkerCS 04-30-2011 11:55 AM

I have an 05 that was built at the end of 04 and 2 of the sensors have died on me so far and 2 of the others are somewhat flaky and they will be replaced when I get new rubber in a few weeks.

They are supposed to last about 8 years, I had to replace one of mine because the battery fell short. Not cheap btw but you only need to replace one if its flashing. If its solid your pressures are off. Also if you used slime in a wheel you must replace it because you clogged the sensor.

I replaced all four a couple months back when I got new tires put on.
I had one that was losing battery after about 5 years.

FYI..............low end is about 26psi and it will go off on the high end around 49-52psi as well.

Have four(one may be bad) sitting around if anybody really, really needs one.

The price as actually come down about $20.00 or more from what they used to be.

'04 Same problem, I just replaced all four. Best deal I could find was from www.palisadesvolvomazdafactoryparts.com $59.17 each.

If anyone else knows of a better deal...

$240 a set?! Man, i hope mines will last longer than 8 years.
