Throw-out bearing?

I've taken my 8 to dealer 3x about a squeaking noise when car sits at idle. It has a new clutch, the mechanic says that the sound is normal for 8's.....That it's most likely dust between flywheel and clutch plate......I don't believe him....2005 rx8 shouldn't be making any noise, other than air intake and exhaust.....When the car is out of gear at a stop light I hear a squeaking noise.....When I press down the clutch, the sound goes away.....Do I have a real problem or is this mechanic right?.....Need help with this one...................:banghead:

Changing transmission fluids will change the sound. At least for me it did. I'm using redline right now and the transmission makes more noise than the engine. Mine is a hum, not a squeak though.

i understand your frustrations with a new car and the noises it should not make. i've had many RX-7's over the years with higher mileage and an original clutch set and no noise was present. the throwout bearing i nmy 05 RX-8 with 31K makes a ton of noise and after taking it to the dealer for warranty repair, they call and advised that it sounds normal. they said that they compared mine to another 8 that they had on the lot and that it exhibited similar sounds. a friend of mine has an identical 8 to mine with identical mileage and his clutch pedal is a lot stiffer with no t/o bearing noise.. makes no sense to me why the dealer would say this condition is normal.
