for those who own powdercoated AEM intake

i recently got an aem intake had some problems with it maf sensor went on me..put a new one in took it down ran good then started to die and run like total crap on me..took it apart the powdercoating on the inside of the intake piping peeled and flaked apart and blocked off the intake screens..not good..took each pipe apart and used some paint thinner and an air tool with a wire brush end and got all the powdercoating out from inside the piping..dont know why the lazy FU*KS at aem didnt tape off the inside of the pipes or something before powdercoating but tommorow im calling them and giving them a piece of my mind.
if any of those pieces got through those screens buy buy screamin rotary motor..hello to broke wallet..

BEWARE ALL THAT OWN BLUE,RED,AND GUNMETAL AEM INTAKES

i personally think the AEM intake is a total joke its the only true cai but u run the risk of sucking a pond through your motor or having the problem i ran into..

good luck

Agreed that it is sloppy, but the paint would go through the motor without any likely effect.

i think this has been a problem with the revI intake also because on the racing beat website the say the blue is no longer avalable for the same reason.

what part of the rb revi are you referring too? the intake horn inside the filter element?

"* As of January 1, 2010, due to inconsisitencies in the blue anodizing processes previously utilized, the aluminum mass air flow sensor tube is now delivered with the clear anodizing surface treatment." taken from http://racingbeat.com/FRmazda4.htm

okay not sure now that i read it again. i think there problem was with the color not with the flaking.
