Temp Sensor and Fuel Mix
Here's the question, will a faulty coolant temp switch cause the ECM to 1) Increase fuel richness, particularly on cold start. 2) Cause the oil injection rate to increase. 3) Increase the load on the CAT (and eventual failure). 4) Cause rich-running, and white smoke on hard accel. and cold decel. And white smoke on cold start.
Thanks |
I do know that there are maps in the ECU where relationships between coolant temps and other maps are made. I would have to take a look when i get home. I am sure there are others that have the answer handy though, so -bump-

Agreed, totally missed the white smoke comment. That is a good indication of coolant in the mixture :(

You likely have two issues; 1) Bad/failing ECT sensor. 2) A blown coolant seal.

Strange that white smoke would be from fuel, as it is usually black.
+ Bosch what? |

It would appear to be unburnt fuel vapor at idle. On acceleration it can turn darker. Bosch plugs, whichever came from BHR. they're good ones.
