Tail End Electrical Problems
 

I'm having a few issues with the electrical components on the tail end of my 8. For the longest time, I've always used the button next to the hood release to open the trunk. I tried to use the keyless trunk button the other day and it didn't work. So I tried the button on the car and it didn't work either. So right now, only the button in the car is the only way to open the trunk (or use the key).

Then last night, I realized my license plate light is out. I went to buy some new lights today and when I replaced them, the light still doesn't work.

I thought it might be a fuse, but after checking all the fuses, they are all good.

Any ideas on what to look for now? Thanks for the help!

Ok...anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram for all the electrical components in the back? Maybe I can figure out something from there.

Check your fuses sounds like one is blown

Yeah...I went and checked the fuses again...all good. According to all the fuse diagrams I can find, all the tail lights (brake, tail, signal, license plate) are all on the same fuse. So it seems like if it was a fuse, all the lights on the back end would be out.

There is a 10A TAIL fuse just after the TNS relay.

Thanks for the diagram. Looks like all the lights are on the same circuit, so it must be something with the connection on light since the rest of the lights come on.

As for the trunk not working, I'll have to mess with that later. But my idea that it was the same thing is wrong.

u mean "some" thing is wrong.

I hope there is no short or cut in your wiring harness. Cuz it will be really painful to check it out.

the wire goes from the right side to the back of the car. so you might want to look into that.

Ok...finally got down in there and there was a connector that was disconnected. Sure enough, it solved both of my problems (the license plate light and remote trunk release.)
