Sunroof opening very rough?

So this spring, my sunroof began to open relatively rough...it wasn't to bad or noticeable at first but as time goes on, the sunroof becomes harder to open..for lack of a better phrase, it seems like it needs more lube..if that's the case, what would I use and where would I go about placing it?

Yeah, this seems to happen eventually to every car I've had with a sunroof. I just take some white lithium grease and apply it along the sunroof track, and it slides smoothly for several months. Not sure if there's a longer-lasting fix, but this does work for me.

Thank you!! Off to find some lithium grease asap..it's obnoxious to open the sunroof just because of the sound so I'll try this!! Thanks again!!

white lithium grease works great for the sunroof. You should be able to find it at your local hardware store.
It'll come in a tube so apply it generously to the sunroof track and open / close it several times to spread it out and reapply in areas as needed.

Just wanted to post an update in regards to my sunroof shaking my whole car while opening...slightly exaggerated of course...I applied a tube...well half the tube...into the tracks and the sunroof seems to be running much smoother now...still has a slight wobble towards the very end of it being open...but with enough use I can imagine that disappearing..thanks for the help guys!!

Glad we were able to help.
as the lube spreads and penetrates it'll get easier to open all the way.

wait... that didn't sound right.
:uhh:
