Stock suspension Squeak?

Does anyone else have this problem? If my car has been parked in the cold for a while, and then I start driving, if I go over a speed bump I hear the suspension squeak. The car has 36000 miles on it and is still under warranty. What should I do? I think the problem is that the gas in the shocks hasn't expanded yet, because when the car warms up I don't hear it anymore.

I had the same problem with my right rear suspension. I used abit of brake fluid mixed with oil to soften the bushes which seemed to work.

Bump. Does anyone know exactly what to do to fix this because it is getting very annoying and loud. I took a ride with a Mazda tech guy and it didn't squeak because the car was already warm. He said you can't grease the suspension because it is sealed. He thought it was the breaks, but I seriously doubt that. Maybe something might be loose? It does seem to feel that way.

The suspension is completely sealed? how does it attach to the car then? The tech simply doesn't have any basic mechanical knowledge. I can only hope he thought you were talking about greasing the shock absorbers rather then the suspension bushings.

Lubricating the suspension is one of those things that most dealerships will do for you as a part of their regular maintenance routine it should not be an unusual thing to ask for. Ask the service manager about getting the BUSHINGS greased up.

Do you think I could do it myself with basic tools? If so, what would you suggest to use? Thanks.

Jack your car up, Well, lets start with the rear first.

Look at your sway bars. Yep, something that looks like a crowbar that connects the left and right of ur suspension. There is some plastic looking thinggy that holds it in between, total of 2.

Take them out and put some Grease in it. install them back, problems resolved.

Thanks for the advice. Is there a specific kind of grease I should use, or it doesn't even matter?

any automotive grease for lubing will do. they are not expensive, even the super duper famous brand cost like 5-6 bux for a whole can. or u can go cheap and they cost 2-3 bux each big can

I have the same squeak, 83000km, but I'm waiting for my suspension and swaybar install to deal with it.

nycgps 01-29-2008 07:15 PM

I have squeak for quite some time too, only when its really cold. so I just ignore it. waiting for new sway bars to come in just like DarkBrew

Nopstnz8 01-30-2008 01:46 AM

Yeah I might do the same thing and fix it when I get swaybars.

Nopstnz8 02-02-2008 10:15 PM

So are you guys saying that if I were to get aftermarket swaybars, probably Progress sway bars, they would get rid of the squeak at low temperatures?

Well I was just saying that I'll lube the new ones when I put them in.

Nopstnz8 02-02-2008 11:02 PM

Yeah I just realized that you lube the bushings when you put on the new swaybars. Do you know if the progress sway bars come with new bushings? If not, where would I get them?

DarkBrew 02-02-2008 11:11 PM

polyurethane bushings according to their web site

Dremd911 04-03-2008 07:22 AM

has Mazda ever replaced their shocks...i have heard noises when pulling into parking lots or going over spead bumps...im still under warranty so i am going to mention this at my next oil change (i think i need a new shock in the right front of the car...never have had anything in the rear but have also had a noise in the brakes that the techs said would go away when the switched my brakes...those guys never tell the truth

HiTMaNN 04-03-2008 11:50 AM

Why would they switch your shocks when all they have to do is lube your bushings?

Dremd911 04-03-2008 11:59 AM

did that really need to be asked....its like asking why is the sky blue idk it just is....idk maybe the shock is broken and needs to be replaced... do shocks never need to be replaced

Yah I did need to ask it.... why think the extreme when it can be something as easy as lubing your Bushings....

Nubo 04-03-2008 02:03 PM

Might be enough to re-torque the bolts that hold the bushing supports.

It is definately the bushings, not the shocks. I had the exact same problem and found out the swaybar bushings needed to be greased. I got it done at Big O Tires and now the car sounds so much better when going over speed bumps. No more squeak! Hope this helps.

BianchinRX8 05-16-2008 12:29 AM

Well I have the same noise coming from all 4 corners, especially the front when I go over speed bumps. The suspension is all aftermarket but after hearing about the bushings, it makes sense. I sprayed some water on the suspension before thinking maybe it had some dirt rubbing and the problem was solved, for 3 days. I'll definitly get Mazda to grease the bushings next time it's serviced.

Just jack ur car up and do it urself.

ITs not that hard to do.

DarkBrew 05-16-2008 05:52 AM

With my new swaybars in and fully greased the sqeak is history!

Renesis_Genesis 01-12-2009 07:59 PM

wow..i've had the same problem, just recently..i was thinking shocks too, but after reading this..makes so much sense...whew, good thing i read this before i blew away money..
