Stripped hex insert in rear endlink! Help needed...
I'm installing my MS shock/spring combo and just stripped out the 5mm hex insert on the passenger rear endlink. Drivers side was a bitch but came out. What do I do? The nut is unscrewed all the way to the end. Just need that last little bit. I am/have using WD-40.
Cut it off and buy another? or is there a better way? And yes, to all the thread shitters - I searched. |
not being funny or anything like that but try to get a set of vise grip style plyers and lock them down on the link and use the wd-40 .tighten it down then reverse it slow and see if that helps?hope so.the plyers i am talking about are called needle nose.the plyers should hold it in place untill the nut gets to the top to be removed.be careful of stripped metal near your fingers!

if that fails you try to go one size up in the metric wrench and tap it into the hex hole.becausse it is stripped you might need to go with s.a.e size instead of metric.good luck!

Woo-hoo! Success! I did (I think) of variation on your frst post. I used my vise grips to not grab onto the threads but onto the little washer thing that spins with the bolt. Thanks much XRX8X - a great help.
