I just noticed that my steering wheel does not lock anymore. I can turn the wheel lock to lock now.

I looked through the workshop manual but couldnt find anything under the steering section.

The only thing I could find that referenced the steering lock is in the coil removal section. States you have to remove steering lock tab from hole on coil. Something like that. Damn, now I cant find it. Im not sure if thats it.

Any ideas whats wrong?

Alright found it in the manual. So am I right to assume I need to hook this tab back on the coil? Im not sure how steering locks work (I assumed in the wheel itself).


The coil should not be removed unless it is being replaced.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the column cover. (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3. Disconnect the coil connector.



4. Detach the steering lock tab from hole on the coil.

5. Detach the coil tab from the steering lock and remove the coil.

6. Install in the reverse order of removal.
