starting problems
I was wondering if any one could shed so light on a problem i have with my engine starting. My rx8 starts when its cold, its not always a smooth start but if the engines been running a while and i turn it off it wont start till its cooled down, usally takes 10-20 mins afterwards. If any one has any ideas i would be very greatfull.

lee11 - to add to EDZRIDE's questions:
Year, mileage? A/T or M/T? Does it have the updated starter, battery (2004 / early '05)? How long since (plugs, cables, coils) have been changed? Has the compression ever been checked? Has the engine been cleaned (Mazda Zoom cleaner or SeaFoam)? Is the Check Engine Light On? Also - how long have you owned the car? Is the problem gradually getting worse, or did it begin all at once? *Sorry for all the questions, but sometimes it's a pain in the ass to wait until the second or third page of the thread to get *THE FACTS* Cheers. |
its a 2003 m/t its done 48k it does crank none of the lights come on mazda have changed one of the leads and spark plugs and the engines fine they checked it when they changed the lead, could it be a sensor? i dont know about the starter and the battery looks like a crap one the guy put in there b4 he sold it to me. I should of looked into it more b4 i brought it thanks for the help i appretiate it

Try replacing the air filter and cleaning the maf sensor

My guess is they over filled the oil and some if it flowed into your intake pipe and dirtied your MAF. Pull out your MAF sensor and inspect the wire to see if there is anything on it and see if there is any oil in your intake tube.
