It sounds like your fuel filter is clogged or your fuel pump is going bad. When this happens see if you can hear if your fuel pump is running. Turn the key forward to the run position and listen near the gas tank. you should hear a vibrating sound. If you don't hear it at all the pump of pump relay is bad. If you hear it continually your fuel filter, pressure regulater, or fuel line have problems.

So how did you figure this out without any information? It could be the fuel pump or a bunch of other stuff including a failing engine.

OP if you need help you need to give us more information. For example, what year is your car, what model (manual or auto), maintenance record (particularly how many miles on your plugs, wires, and coils), condition of cat, any mods, any CEL, issues with starting, etc...

Thats just my diagnosis considering the information I was given, trying to stay optimistic. Maybe i should of utilized my choice of words better. If that doesn't solve your issue, then yes it could be a failing engine. Do what I stated first, if still doesnt fix it, get a compression test from the mazda dealership

In a nutshell, it could be a numerous amount of things. But first thing I would do is check the fuel filter.

Like tza said...it could be a million things. Fuel Pump...Cat...SSV...Coils...Compression... Drivinby8 you're going to need to make a list of all the possibilities and start checking them off one by one. Danthevan has a quick win for you to check the fuel pump...next I'd be putting the car up on stands and inspecting the exhaust system from front to back before droppin the cat out. It'll be a slow process but without more info it will be the only process.
