Stall Problems

I have searched everywhere and have found no related topics to my problem....

I recently installed 2 Gen K&N short ram and started up perfect, no rough idle etc, waited a while for the ECU to get used to it. I Drove it for about a mile and 1/2 and all of a sudden the engine died. I tacked the RPM's up pretty high and drove it to about eighty.

(have two Bimmers and am used to modding cars)

So... the RX8 stalled then, i pulled over. Checked all connections and everything seemed to be fine. No leaks etc. What could the problem have been? A little stumped on this. So any replies would be helpful. Is this typical to a RX8 temperment.. I know that the MAF tends to be a bitch sometimes. Does the computer need more time than that to get used to it?

Thanks boys, and this forum is great... Just purchased the 8 about three months ago and am loving every minute of it. Now its's time to mod this thing up! :bootyshak

Did you disconnect the batttery and reset the Long Term Fuel Trims?

Owners who take out the MAF screen have reported similar problems, is yours still in place?

Hey Stealth, I didn't disconnect the battery. How do I go about resettig it? On the commute to work today it seemed fine though, so that's good. The MAF screen is removed also.

1. disconnect neg terminal, then stomp on brake peddle a few times. come back in 30 mins and reconnect.

2. when you turn on the car to acc (don't start engine), stomp on the brake 15-20 times till the oil temp needle sweeps.

3. turn car off, then hold the odo reset button and turn car to acc again. you'll see 'test' appear on the odo. repeat this twice, then you can turn on your car.

4. your car will show abs or something light on, turn steering wheel to the left all the way, then all the way to the right. you are then set.

Good knowledge bro. Seemed to be ok now. Installing the exhaust next week when I get it in so hopefully there will be no problems with that.
