Sounds like someone is playing pinball in my rotary
at low RPM's, just 2 weeks after I get it back from North Park Mazda
wtf..... possibly engine running too hot and the oil is breaking down causing the temperature to rise (temp gauge flashed on) any other suggestions? 2004 RX8 with 81k miles |
For starters, did you call North Park Mazda back? What work did they do?
|
either your radiator is overfilled (no head room causing air to not purge from the system) or your radiator is underfilled.
Either way check the overflow bottle and report back |
this is at low rpms (like im at a drive thru window) and i hear it
I had the plugs, wires and coils replaced. |
ok im checking it now
|
besides the sound, does the engine behave weird/bad?
|
i checked the coolant level and it is neither 2 high nor low
the engine bogs down sometimes as well at low rpms |
Bogging down at low rpm's is usually due to coils/plugs/wires. Since you just had your's replaced, maybe one of them is bad. I would try taking it back to them and have them check/replace the ones you have in there now. It has only been two weeks so it should be covered under a repair warranty.

I like the pinball analogy :mdrmed:
If few other quick checks being suggested don't offer a solution, you might want to search on another analogy - "marbles in a can". |
also, while in drive idling at a red light i noticed white smoke coming from my tailpipes

If it was well above freezing temp outside and the car had been driven for a while and the engine was warmed up to normal operating temperature then see earlier post about "marbles in a can". |
8 ball deluxe, you're referring to one of the best pinball games of all time! Second not as funny but here's a free "bump!"
Blue, Can you fill us in a smidge on what your 8 has gone through, including recent service? Im sure someone out there has experienced your symptom, a little detail goes a long way. welcome to the club! |

What was the temperature outside when you noticed this and was it shortly after starting the car up after having sat for quite a while?

OP, white smoke is a sign of a blown engine. You may want to take it to the dealership and get it checked out.
|
i knew the engine was blown when I had it towed.
Pep Boys told me that as Well as Ipac Mazda North Park gave me the bs and said my engine is ok those clowns.....trying to rip me for 567.00 hope the car goes out of warranty so I get stuck like chuck thanks for all your help folks |
How many miles are on your car? If it is less than 100,000, then the engine is covered under warranty and will be replaced for free. But, you will have to pay ~$500 for the little things that Mazda doesn't cover. But, not a bad deal in the end since you do not have to pay for the new engine yourself.
