Good evening
I don't know if I have a broken shift lever since it's been this way the entire time I've owned it. I've been going through manuals and haven't found any definitive answer.


As you can see here, 17-510 is one piece



What I have is 2 pieces. The top half of the shifter has always spun. I thought it was just the **** at first but as you can see, it just spins around the bottom half.

Is the shifter broken or am I missing a clip?

Looks like someone ground down the threaded portion of the shifter. There's nothing for the shift **** to thread onto. You can purchase another shifter and be ready to go. I'll post come pics of what the shifter is supposed to look like.

 

The dealership said that 17-510 is one solid piece, that it doesn't come apart . I'm not sure how this ended up the way it has. It looks too machined to not be two separate pieces though.
