In for service

I took my 8 in for service today with a list of things for them to fix.

1. Headlights have a haze to them
2. Clutch squeaks
3. Breaks Squeak
4. Center console plastic tab broke off
5. Oil change

I got a Pontiac Grand Prix as a rental car and I hate it hopefully my car will be done by tomorrow. I know a few people have had the same problems I will post what they did to fix this stuff if anything.

For me:
#3 = new pads and cut rotors (still squeaks for first 1/4 mile on cold mornings, but OK after that)
#4 = new console cover (and I'm much more careful with it, knowing how fragile it is now)

i had my center console lid fixed. Turns out they ordered it wrong somehow and had ended up replacing the WHOLE center console. The tech was probably not happy and i saw him point out the old lid to the manager after 2 and a half hours work and i asked the manager what that was about. He said the tech was informing him that if they would have ordered these clips i probably could have had it done in 15 minutes, lol. Nonetheless, he did a good job and i got more then i asked for.

Tigster,
Please let me know if mazda will warranty the headlights. Mine have the same problem and its one of the things that I hope to get fixed during my next service.

here's an update it has been the second day and the car is not done yet. They did however replace the brakes, lubricate the clutch so it doesnt squeak, oil change. They said nothing was wrong with the center console and after I told them where the broken part was they ordered a new lid for my center console.

As for the headlights they say there is nothing wrong they don't see the oily residue on the inside of the headlights. They asked me if the markings affected the lights at night and I said I don't know the residue has been there since I bought it and dont know what the light is like without it. So we'll see when I pick it up tomorrow.

I also got a free tank of gas, and a full detail for it taking an extra day. I would rather have rid of the pontiac grand prix loaner.

I had the same problem with the headlights and they replaced the lenses without even hesitating. However, I am not happy with the alignment of the lights now. I can only see about 30 feet in front of me when using just low beams. Also, the left light is lower than the right one. Gotta go back and have that taken care of now too.

I also had the console lid replaced for the broken clip. But it feels too loose. I am starting to hate having anything worked on, it seems things are worse after they are "fixed".

Nice to know that someone else feels this way. That's why I try to do all my own maintenance/repairs if at all possible. Of course, that

Yep, I do most everything myself, too. I change my own oil, rotate tires, replace brakes, flush coolant, etc, etc. However, when I need parts replaced under warranty, off to the dealer I go, like it or not.

I dont have a problem doing the service myself, but I figure that is what the warranty is for. Plus I just don't have the time.

update

Ok I picked up the car today, everything was done except they forgot about the oil change. They said if I bring it back the next is free, I won't bother too far of a drive. They also did not wash it.

The headlights as of today were not replaced, however the girl that checked me out was very nice and wanted to see what I was talking about and came to look. She saw it right away got the service tech and showed him. He said it was soap, so she sent someone right out to clean the headlights and the have is still there. She got the parts and service manager and they agreed they were not right. They admitted Mazda is "investigating" this problem and I get my new headlights next week. I asked her to accidently order and install the HID's ;)
