rx8 wont start... IDK. HELP!!! PLEASE!!!!!

ok... sooooo. im pretty pissed off right now. havnt ever had a starting issue with my car ever. i have my rx8 and a work truck, its just my weekend car. last time i drove it was saturday the 3rd. today is the 6th.

Saturday the 3rd. - no problems at all, drove it about 130 miles for the entire day. stopped at 3 different places. started fine every time. had no problems.

tonight(tuesday the 6th) - sooo i got in my car to go to the store.... it just cranks. the dash lights come on like it should have started, then go off, and on and off all while still cranking. nothing happens. i give it a break and come back 10 minutes later.....

come back try to start it. nothing. so i pop the hood and i hear a buzzing noise that ive never heard before coming from the MAF(mass airflow) i suppose thats what it is. its also making a noise similar to the sound when you start up a computer/desktop. i unplugged it, it stopped. plugged it back in, didnt make any noise. tried to start again. nothing still.

i disconnect the battery to reset the ecu i suppose? and take my truck to the store. im gone for about an hour, come back, connect the battery. nothing still.

WHAT COULD THIS BE! its driving me crazy. i know somewhat about cars, but im stumped here.

diagnostics ive done- i dont see how it could be flooded because i havnt drivin it in 3 days, unless injectors are leaking, sometimes when i start it, it idles high and rough, like it isnt sparking right, but after u drive it around for a minute it clears up.

i dont know what it could be.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

you dont mention the miles, auto or maual, location. any history.

but i am going to guess that is is an 04 or 05.

your battery is dieing..

yeh could be battery - you can confirm this by listening to how fast it is cranking . Is it normal speed or does it sound slow ?
Have you got jump leads ? If not can you push start it to get it going to confirm it still goes .

BTW : it will be flooded now after all those starting atempts

If the internal lights are dimming as you're cranking, then stop and charge your battery.
I agree that with all these attempts it could be flooded now.

My last flood came out of nowhere too... car ran for 1/2 hour and sat for one week.
Next time I went to start it, the SOB was flooded.

I would say its your battery.

A buzzing sound comes from the air pump on the passenger side for emissions purposes.

Next time you hear that check that. This is a normal noise.

Never heard of a MAF BUZZ......

noise is normal.
sounds like a battery to me. original battery?

i also say the battery...

doubt its the battery. i know the battery is weak now from cranking and cranking. so i doubt it is getting up to full speed to actually start. i will use jumper cables friday since that is the first day im off to work on it.

it is an 04, MT, 35k miles, live in houston, tx. no problems previous to this one.

i guess i could always take the battery out of my s-10 truck and see if it cranks up, cause i know that battery is good. since i drive it daily.

i know it has good compression because i can hear it building as i crank it.

ALSO- the DSC light does blink. but only after i disconnected the battery and re-connected it. so the battery is a little low now. im pretty sure its the original.

people have been telling me about the 20 stomp reset. what are the steps in doing that? i feel like suck an rx-8 noob. if it was a honda i could fix it. damn new cars....

thanks for the advice so far. ill try all these things friday morning. thanks again!
