Rx8 Won't start
 

I think it's the flooding issue. I had a couple of my friends come over, and when they left i moved my car, to my usual spot and turned the car off. Can someone please help me fix this?

1. I tried pumping the accelerator and turning the ignition key, i tried holding the accelerator down then turning the key.
2. I took the Fuel PumP fuse out (mine's a 05 so it was the light green/yellow one) turned the key, and then put the fuse back in and tried to start it. Still wouldn't start.

I didn't buy my car from a legit dealer, he was like someone who was just starting a new dealership, so was kinda small.
There is a mazda dealer by my place but it is like 5-10 miles away and i'm not really interested in getting it towed.
SO my question is, will it solve the problem if i change the spark plugs? my car has 58k miles and i don't think the spark plugs have been changed at all.
do i have to change the Spark Coil + Spark Coil wire (if i change the spark plugs)

Its a automatic.

If it's a Manual Tranny...put in the front tow hook...and carefully pull it and let out the clutch in second at about 15mph......with the key on it will start in about 50 feet if it is flooded

its a automatic transmission :(

Finding RX-8 spark plugs on a Sunday can be difficult, but you can at least do half of the De-flood procedure.
Your out of warranty so a dealer & tow will cost $200-$300. If you can take out the plugs please post a photo of them.

take the plugs out then take the fuel pump fuse out.... then crank the motor you'll see your rene spit fuel out through the spark plug holes... do this for about ten seconds a piece and repeat about four or five times... give you starter a breater between sets..... after this replace your spark plugs if they arent fouled and put your fuel pump fuse back in.. crank the car.... should be a little longer than usual but it should fire up

Ok i removed the drivers side front wheel and tried to get the spark plugs out but no luck. I can reach the spark plug cover, but i don't think i had the right tools to remove the spark plugs. So i ordered a pair of spark plugs 2 ngk 6700 and 2 ngk 6701, and i'm going to get it towed to pepboys (who i called and amazingly their towing fee is reasonable; $39.99 for 20 miles within pepboys)

I took my engine fuse out too, just to experiment and see if it would work again but no luck. It (my rx8) makes a knocking noise when i try to start, instead of a cranking noise.


So again my question is Should i just tell them to take the spark plugs out and take the fuel pump fuse out, crank it( A few times) and put the new ones in? will that do the trick or since i took the engine fuse out, should i do something else??

I would do basically what JGR4444 said to do.

1.) Remove the fuel pump relay.

2.) Remove all the plugs....this is the tricky part, because if they are wet you need to really get them dry.......we used compressed air. But since you have new ones, you may be okay here. No matter what.....they have to be dry!!!!

3.) With relay and plugs out, crank the car in ten second bursts giving the starter time to cool down a little in between bursts. Since you should have the wheel off at this time, you can sit there with a rag and wipe off all the gas/oil mix that will come seeping out of the plug holes. You will first get some spit at you and maybe a little smoke. Do these short bursts of 10 seconds for quite a few times........maybe 5-8 times or until you don't really see anymore seepage. BTW.......you better have a good battery to do all of this.

AT NO TIME DURING THIS SHOULD YOU HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR, YOU ARE ONLY MAKING MATTERS WORSE.

4.) Once #3 is done, put the plugs back in being careful to put the right ones in the right place(leading vs. trailing), re-attach the wires...again in the right place.

5.) Have someone stand at the front of the car with the relay in hand while the other person cranks the car(with no foot on the accelerator!). Once the car fires, have that person immediately but the relay back in. This must happen pretty fast, so have them be ready with it in their hand and in the right direction and close by , so they can slap it in real quick.

6.) Unfortunately, if this doesn't work, then it's back to step 1 and do it all over again.

When another member and I were helping a young girl do this, it took us twice through this to get it going.

I couldn't take the spark plugs out, you need some extension thingy and a different type of wrench , I ended up taking it to a Mazda service place. they are charging me 198+ tax even after I bought the spark plugs :( and towing it here cost me $70 so all together it is going to come out to like $300 :( I'm still at the Mazda place waiting for them to finish.

Been here for like 4 hours

It must suck to not know anything about cars.
