engine compression test, sounds like a faulty engine, how many miles do you have on it?

jamesunc1 01-02-2008 05:56 PM

I have 44426 on it. Im hopeing its nothing serious ive been noticeing the pickup hasnt been the same since the catalitic converter was replaced from the last time it was in shop for engine light.

Is it an Auto or MT?

did you let it warm up? What RPM and speed were you doing when she stalled?

at 44k miles have u changed your plugs yet...might be the problem.

mzrx 01-02-2008 06:17 PM

as magikone69 said check your plugs and coil packs. my car sputter around 45k miles and it was plugs and coil packs that needed to be replaced.

it is a manual transmission and i dont think they have been changed unless it was done on the recall i bought the car a year ago in florida. i appreciate all the imput ill ask them to check that tommorrow. and see if they can do a compression test just to make sure

i let it warm up almost half way then when i pulled out in reverse it started to sputter first time it ever happened to me so i parked started it again and then it seemed to be fine on the ride home

If it turns out to be your coils and plugs you might want to think about upgrading to this: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/mazsport-ignition-solution-134081/

Ok, James. Sounds like your car is fine and just needs a tune up.
