Rx8 2007 clutch problems

Hey guys I'm new to this forum hope I posted in the right section...

I have purchased a rx8 2007 series 1 model I have only driven it a few times since purchasing it on 130,000 ks, I've got the service books for the car, the car was serviced by Mazda and Mazda only since the day of purchase by the first owner, out of nowhere the clutch wasn't going into reverse and was very very hard to put in then I had issues with the first gear it doesn't go in, when I push down on the clutch it makes a grinding sound..

The funny part is the dealership I bought it from informed me the clutch is new and will last me for 5 years even gave me a receipt for it...

From the issues I described can someone please let me know if this sounds like a new clutch or not

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the club! Posted in the wrong section. I'm sure it'll be moved, but the New Members Forum is where you should have posted. But on to the issue at hand.

I had something similar happen with my Eclipse a few months back, and topping off the clutch fluid resolved it. On the RX8, the clutch pulls the fluid from the same reservoir as the brakes (as best I understand it, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)), so I'd start there and ensure the fluid is topped off.

I'm sure others will chime in, but I'm starting with something simple first :)

My mechanic has looked at the car few days ago gave it a oil check the filter and oil was changed, brake fluid was checked and was ok.. When the car is off the gears slip in just fine and smooth, this issue comes and goes..

If it was just done, and you have the receipt for it I would take it back and let them deal with it.

You can do a few regular driving tests to see if your clutch is slipping. Get you car up to about 30mph and then shift into 6th gear. The revs should NOT increase.

If the car rpms go up then its a good chance your clutch is worn as there isn't enough friction material left to grab the flywheel.

Alternatively you can do the same with you car at idle shift into 3rd or 4th. The car should stall. If rpms increase. Time for a new clutch.
