Could you please write in english?

terch1 12-08-2010 07:18 AM

This ain't RX8club Puerto Rico dude! We speak English around these parts.

paimon.soror 12-08-2010 07:39 AM

For the sake of helping a guy out that probably doesn't speak english and needs some help. Here is a very loose translation:

my rx-8 2004 with 77.000 miles on the engine shuts down when running after 1 hour or 45 minutes. then I have to wait a while for the car to turn over. I then have to wait a while before I can turn on the warm engine to only run for another 45 minutes before it shuts off. I am not sure what the problem is.

Then it's either a fuel pump or a compression issue. Possibly a choked catalyzer. Less likely an ignition related issue :)

paimon.soror 12-08-2010 07:43 AM

(google translate ftw lol)

{
what i essentially told him:

I suggest going to your local dealership and having them run a compression test on the vehicle. Sounds like there is a loss of compression which is causing the engine to stop running.

When was the last time you checked the spark plugs on the car? Another thing you can test is to drive the car up and down your street, then check underneath the vehicle to see if the catalyser is glowing red. If it is, that means the catalyser is clogged and needs a replacement.

As I have stated before. a choked\broken catalyzer doesn't always glow red. It rarely does indeed and in extreme cases only. There are better ways of checking it :)
Ignition is usually a secondary cause, the main ones are stated in my previous post and they are usually related one to the other. That sucks, i know!

Haha I know I understand that it doesn't always glow red but I figured that was the easiest thing to type out without having Google translate give me the middle finger. Hopefully that leads him in the right direction though and hopefully Google dint make my translation say something like "choke a bird with Zeus's catalyst hands while compressing his beak against a sparking outlet "

You have it pretty much covered. I think he will find it's the choked catalytic converter.

when I see the title I was like what.

chelecuche 12-08-2010 06:11 PM

Lo mas seguro es que tengas un catalisador malo, si nunca has cambiado las bujias, cables o los coils revisalos si estan malos... es lo de las cosas que mas tienden a fallar en el rx8, de donde eres?

bse50 12-08-2010 06:15 PM

Could you pleace speak english, again?
Altrimenti rispondo in italiano...

Tamas 12-08-2010 07:34 PM

That's funny, but sometimes true. I've seen it be dead on and at other times waaaaay off.

Buscando una fiesta. No mames, guey!

Suerte.

I pretty much said get rid of the cat and get a midpipe and also change the spark plugs and coils. Also take it to the dealership to get a compression test done.
I live in KY but I'm originally from Puerto Rico :)
