Running on one rotor
So I posted a few months back that I have a brand new engine in my car. Model is 2005 5 speed. I take care of my car and decided to wash the engine. After washing it it started to run on one rotor. Now the mechanic checked everything. Did the compression ,spark plugs wires, coils. Still runs rough on one rotor. He told me that the engine is also flooded with too much fuel being injected and the mixture is rich. So what could it be ? we checked the maf and map he says spark shows in both rotors but runs rough and rich ??
what could it be ? engine has 10,000km on it. regards. |
Did you use a pressure washer?
Water got in somewhere. Likely places are the MAF connector and various solenoids around the intake manifold. Start with the MAF, disconnect it and find a way to get bith sides of the connector dry. Bag with rice or other moisture absorbing material, hair dryer, that type of stuff. Try disconnecting the MAF sensor and running the car, see if it acts differently then. That will tell you you've on the right path. There is no map sensor on these cars, so not sure what was checked. And when you say "runs on one rotor" what exactly are you describing? Any check engine codes? |
the maf was checked by an electrician said it works fine. The car runs the same with it disconnected. Tomorrow he will take off the intake manifold and see whats up.... He said he checked the whole ignition system even replaced the car computer just to be sure and the car runs the same ...Yes I used a power pressure washer. Yeah stupid me I know :P

If it was my car, I'd take a look at the data being fed by the MAF and other sensors for clues as to why it's running rich. The computer isn't dumb, it's just reacting to bad input. |
