RPM surges when clutch is engaged but car is in neutral.
This just started happening yesterday morning. I've searched and read up on the "cold oil causes the crank to turn blah blah blah" But this is texas, and it's 97 degrees in my freaking garage, the oil is probably warm enough. All of the problems I saw with cold oil were in the winter. On to the issue!
This only appears to happen when the engine is cold. I start it, and if I take my foot off the clutch, the RPM's start to surge between 1750 and 1250 RPM's. If I disengage the clutch, the surge stops. My car does not move during the surges.
This behavior occurs whether I have the AC on or off. There doesn't seem to be a problem once the engine is warmed up.
Could the problem be my clutch needs to be adjusted? I was thinking that when the clutch is engaged it's touching just enough to cause the engine to sputter (thankfully the computer catches it in time), but not enough to move the car.
Any ideas before I take it into the dealer? I'm comfortable around cars, and I'd like to avoid a trip to the dealer if I could.

it tells the TCM that the car is in neutral so the TCM can send a signal to the PCM and it can go into idle mode. if one doesnt happen neither does the other and the PCM gets confused about what it is trying to do. garbage in garbage out
Whenever I start my car in the morning... mine surges to about 1500 rpm, but within about a 20 seconds it calms down. So... aye dunno im not losing any sleep over it or endure the hassle of not having my vehicle for 2 days.

well naturally it didn't do it for the dealer. He wants to keep my car one more day to try and start it again tonight and then once more in the morning to see if there are any issues.
On the upside, he did offer me transportation, I didn't need it, but it was a nice gesture.
Also, they said they didn't have the newest flash yet.
