RPM Drop to zero, then Traction Control off

Today while I was driving I got the check engine light, which is not uncommon since I have a gutted cat and no airpump.

Anyways I reached into my glovebox to get the code reader to make sure it was the codes i'm used to seeing and clearing (every damn day) and they were, however when I plugged the reader into the port the RPM dropped to zero and back to where they were and the Traction control light came and stayed on.

When the rpm's dropped I did not loose power or anything like that, it behaved the way the oil pressure needle behaves when you reset the ecs. It seemed like it was the computer's way of telling me it was going to turn off my traction control (who does it think it is?!).

So I just turned the engine off and back on as I was cruising and everything went back to normal.

Has anyone experienced this or know what could be happening?

That happened nearly every time I connected the Torque App to my OBD2 plug via bluetooth. It's just a communication interruption, nothing to specifically worry about. The only way I was able to avoid it was to connect to the bluetooth via the app before starting the car.

It only did it with that specific combination, only my 8, only Torque, only that OBD2 plug. Did not do it with Torque and that plug on any other car, and did not do it on my 8 with any other app or any other OBD2 plug.

Yep, nothing more than a CAN communications fault.

I had this issue several times and yes I have one of those bluetooth obd2 connected so I think that the answer provided is solid. I was dead worried as well and thought either my computer was about to die on me or that my car wouldn't start up again the next time. Thanks guys four the answer.
