Only right side turn signals don't work. FIXED !

Hello again !

There were a few views of my previous post but no suggestions. I hope some one can help me out soon. I am at a loss of what to do.

So, the right turn signals do not work at all. The left ones light up fine and the instrument panel also shows the blinking left arrow. But whenever i put the right turn signal on, there is nothing. The right side fails to do anything when i turn the stalk on the other side. The instrument cluster also does not show blinking right arrow.

If you think its the signal stalk, consider that if i press the hazard light switch, only the left side lights up and the right side does not blink. That's true for the arrows in the instrument cluster as well. I do not know what to do or how to fix it.

If any one has any suggestions, please let me know. I am unable to drive the car because i dont want to get a ticket or worse still, have some one crash in to me when i am trying to turn right.

I tried checking all the bulbs and seeing if they are shorting out. But there wasn't any problems like that . There is no current in the housing of the turn signal bulb , in front or in the rear when i turn the signal on.

It still can be the turn signal switch. (Note: I have not taken a look at the RX-8 schematics, but I have fixed many many others.) The hazard lights and turn signal switch share the same circuits.

I would suggest you take the covers off of the steering column to access the switch, and check for power coming out of there.

Kind of late to reply but just for other people who might be having the same issue. It was the turn signal switch as Wingnutz said. Its a tricky little so and so to get to since its mounted in the recess above the lever to open the hood. You have to lay on your back and look up at it to see it. Also, its mounted with a few screws that are hard to get to.

Once i got it out, it was very easy to diagnose using schematics in the Rx8 repair manual to figure out if the switch was working properly. You would need a multi-meter to check it out but its a fairly simple process to do so.

Hope that helps if someone is having the same issue.
