Removed slave cylinder. Have a question.
 

I removed the slave cylinder expecting to find fluid in the dust cover but is was bone dry.

My clutch pedal sank to the floor a couple day ago and after some research found out it might be the slave.

The only thing is see wrong is that the piston inside does not pop back out after being pushed in, is that due to the seal bloating/expanding?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to temp-fix this. I ordered a rebuild kit but it'll take a couple of days and I need my 8 for work.

Bump for a similar situation. I was leaving a gas station & my clutch pedal (which was replaced <1000 miles ago) did not come up off the floor. I was able to lift it with my toes and pump it back up, but after a couple days now it's doing it again with increasing frequency. I have yet to pull the slave cylinder, but everything looks dry from the outside. Thoughts?? Should I order a new master, slave, & clutch line & just replace them? This is currently my DD, so I really need to figure it out ASAP.

If the slave is dry..check the clutch master...it may leak at the firewall...or inside the car by the pedal.

Check that the pedal assembly is OK as well...it is a known failure point and covered under an extended warranty of sorts

You could re-bleed the system and it might be fine.

If you want to be perfectly sure that they are all OK..you could replace all 3 parts :)

I replaced my slave and still had the same problem so next step is to replace the clutch master. I read somewhere that the master could internal failure which i'm guessing is what happen to mine because i don't see any fluid leaking anywhere.

my throwout bearing failed on me... pedal sank to the ground.. turned out to be both my slave, and throwout bearing! just check the clutch slave and the line for leaks.. after verifying you have fluid in the reservoir.

The pedal was replaced under warranty about a month ago. It ended up being both the slave and master cylinders, which had both already been replaced (along with the clutch) in 2007/08.
