Rebuilt engine problem - Please help :(

Hello,:banghead:

I could use some help here. I am helping a friend with a rebuilt on a 13B 4AT. The engine rebuilt went well and after getting every thing in ... we started the car and after a couple of tries it started..... after few seconds there was a loud noise and we shut it down. We were happy to hear it start so we called it a day and took the battery off. The next day we come back, put the battery back and crank it ... the loud noise is louder and very harsh. As if something not rotating right and is stuck. (more of sound of something stuck in between a moving fan) After quiet a bit of looking we found out that the starter was going in good but not coming back. So we changed the starter and now the car after being start for 2-5 seconds shuts down. The starters are fine and while one of them is the old starter .. the later is new one.

We checked the followings -

flywheel - we put washers in between so that it comes out a bit and the sound is gone
Crank shaft is alrite
The car had an initial issue of electricity but that got solved, the battery was damaged (corrotion).
We checked the wiring, that is fine too.

The car has starts every time but only for 2-6 seconds. :banghead:We are searching for any tips on this, nothing seems to be on the net on this ... we have done 3 rebuilts before this with no problems yet.

The car has new plugs and coil ..... :/

Plleaaaaaaaaaaaaaseeeeeee help :(

i just recently put a new engine in mine and have the same issue. except mine had fault code P2004. i removed the APV solenoid and reset the gears. car runs fine now. at first i thought it was a fuel related issue cause the car would start then die immediately. try this and let me know what happens.

possible bearing somewhere on the shaft, does it turn slow? oil psi readings?
