Rear Caliper Piston
 

I'm changing my rear brake pads. I got the rear caliper piston turned in as far as it will go, but it won't fit over the new pads. It will fit if I take one shim off, it's literally that close to fitting. The piston won't go any further into the caliper. It's barely out past the rubber lining. My question is, how far in is it supposed to go? I've attached some pics showing how far the piston will go in.

If it's supposed to go in further, what can I do?

Are you using the turning tool?

I've used the cube shaped adapter to turn it and i've used the tool set you can borrow from hardware stores that turns and presses the piston at the same time, neither one will get the piston past that point. The piston moves really easily everywhere else.
