Radio/LCD Lights

I was driving and I hit a pothole pretty hard about 30mph and all my lights for my radio went off and my radio buttons won't work either. Also the LCD display isn't displaying anything...Im able to listen to the radio and change volume with the controls on the steering wheel.

What do you think happened?? Any suggestions?

I also tried to turn the car on off and switched the headlight on to off but still nothing.

check your fuses. Inside (by pedals) and in engine, One may have popped off. If not that take the stereo out and check the connections.

Just took out the whole stereo and check the connections, they are all fine and all the fuses are there and none of them are blown.

What can the problem be???

edit: My hazards work fine

Well, you checked the fuses to make sure they were in all the way I assume?

The engine bay ones as well?

If you have a mutimeter see if you can find a diagram on here of the power inputs and then test them to see if they are getting power.

Something came loose, the radio would not go out upon hitting a bump, a cd might. But not the radio, so you need to just start checking connections. Find where it is grounded perhaps, check to see if the connection is solid.

This sounds stupid, but one way you may be able to check is to get another bump, and if the radio comes back on for a second you know it is a loose wire... I might not do that though...

Haha yeaa, I won't do that, I thought I f'd up my rims at first than noticed my radio wasn't working.

Yes I took out all the fuses and checked them. My radio was working before I took it apart but it was not displaying anything or lighting up. Now since I removed it and put it back together no sound at all.

interesting. So like you could hear the radio and cd's but the display didn't work? am I correct?

interesting. You know, my sister who has a mazda3 has her radio cut out the sound a lot, but can see the screen. Maybe you knocked something loose inside?

I'm out of a ideas, someone on here will have another one, but if your car is still under the 6 year 60,000 mile warranty, I'd call a dealership and see what they have to say.

If worse comes to worse you can buy them on here cheap enough...

... hmm soo you're saying I was right? :)

haha giving it a nice punch would have actually fixed it.

Anways, I'm glad you got it worked out.

Oh, side note, when this happened to my sister's 3 (well not this, but radio problems) the dealer literally said to hit it because they thought this was the problem. haha
