Question for fellow automatics

some times when i am using the tiptronic, and when i say sometimes i really mean like 7 out of 10 times, while shifting from first to second my car doesnt shift right away. it will show that i am in second but it will build more rpms in first and then lurch to second....does anyone else have this situation? is it normal? maybe transmission fluid needs changed?

How many miles on the transmission and what rpm are you shifting at?

BlackRX82006 06-29-2010 10:30 AM

I'm a 2006 6-port AT w/ 43k miles. And it's normal when you're doing a slow cruise. Mine jumps to life once I'm beating the hell out of my car

If you're still in the throttle it probably knows an upshift won't help.

I've got a 07 6sp AT, and I'm way to clumbsy to shift myself, but where that triptronic really shines is holding the upshift when you jump out of full throttle to see if you jump back on it again.

I can actually punch the gas a few seconds, let off, and it stays in that same gear while braking hard into the corner. Most autos always upshift the minute you let off the gas so when you're ready to punch it you have to wait for the down shift, and you had less engine braking (annoying).

sitting at about 83000 miles. Engine replaced about 7000 miles ago. Slow in town driving. i would say any where between 3500 to 4000 rpms.

It wouldn't hurt to have the transmission serviced.

I have the same issue and was curious myself on this, just never got around to asking.

So, it's normal I take it?

I have a 04 GT AT w/30k miles.

Idk if that's normal I have an 05 and as soon as I tap from 1st to 2nd it changes!!
Try to shift to 2nd when ur not moving if that takes the same amount of time there is something wrong

i think i will drain the transmission and put new fluid in. every time i get my oil changed the guy would always tell me that the transmission fluid is dirty but i never believe them....seems like there is always something else wrong with your car when you bring it to get serviced. lol

Don't do the drain and refill; have it flushed.
