Question about oil for my 8

I had my oil changed today and told the guys doing it that I wanted a synthetic blend of Mobil 1 5w20 and after they did it I found out they used 10w30 and I honestly have no idea if they actually did blend it or just use fully synthetic. I came home after and started reading up and searching to see what kind of other oils and weights other 8 owners have used and now I am royally confused. :banghead:

I was reading this website http://rotarynews.com/node/view/439 and some people said that synthetic is awful for the rotary engine and that it could void your warranty, other people said that rotary engines were built for synthetic. Needless to say, I am going cross eyed trying to figure all of this out. :cussing:

Does anyone know how bad/good using synthetic oil for this motor and is 10w30 too much or will it even affect the engine? Should I cut my losses off at the pass and just change the oil again back to regular 5w20? Or should I just run this oil until my next change and continue using it or switch to what my manual says at that time.

Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want F*** up this motor so I need to figure this out soon!

Just a fair warning-this thread may get locked because the oil debate has been discussed for the last 30+years. If you search, you will have the same confusion. It all depends on what YOU want to run in your 8. I run synthetic and have for the last 30K.

Now on to a better subject, you should be fine with 10-30 in your location. I will be using 10-30 in the summer months myself, but generally stick to a 5-30. 5-20 is another use-it-if-YOU-want situation. There is enough evidence FOR ME, to stay with a 5-30, 10-30, 10-40 oil range, and avoid 5-20. If you take a second to search, you can make your own mind up on this matter, too.
