power loss issue
 

so the other day i was driving to get my tires changed, i got in my car and let it idle for a bit. when i pulled out and accelerated i hit 5500rpm and my car started to lose power, i push the pedal to the floor and the car lost all power. I then shifted to 2nd and all the power came back till i hit 5500rpm again.

I feel that this problem has something to do with the temp of the engine, as i went to get tires the car sat in the garage for about 2 hours at 60 degree. when it was at my house it was about 30 degree weather. after i left the garage i hit the gas and it took off, hit and surpassed 5500rpm no problem.
i do have a cel code p2004, however i was told that, that would not affect me till 6250rpm.

so my question is, were should i start to figure out whats wrong. ive been told alot of different things like clogged cat, o2 sensor not working right, spark plug issue. but im not sure if any of those are accurate.

The warm up rev limit is 5500
You will absolutely hit this cut off if you start your 8 up cold from a 30F ambient morning/day/night

IIRC I think the coolant temp needs to reach 68F

You where told right about the P2004 not coming in to effect until 6250 rpm ... that's the APV opening rpm
Now what I'm not sure about is it RPM only or load based as well ....mmmmmmm don't think so ... rpm only

ahh so its just a kind of safety feature, nothing to really worry about?

oh n i already contacted jon bout the code, i just figured i throw it in this post incase it had something to do with my prop

All I know, is it's bad not to let the engine warm up before going over 5500 rpm ....
Just a couple minutes is all you need.

It's never interested me in what this feature in exactly preventing.
