Power loss after going very fast on a long turning on ramp

I can duplicated this issue anytime. Each time after pushing the car fast at high RPMs around a very long circular on ramp, I have a loss of power after. In 5th or 6th, the car hardly accelerates from 100km/hr even while flooring it. When the RPM reaches past 4000 it accelerates a little better, but still is sluggish.

After pulling over and restarting the car everything is back to normal.

Anyone have any ideas what happens on the turn that could cause it? Too many Gs?

Thanks in advance...

Sounds like fuel starvation...but it could be ailing coils and plugs too. Question though, were the turns all high speed left handers?

There is a fuel starvation problem with the car on hard left hand turns. Most highway cloverleaf ramps are right hand.

Canadian, Eh?

Your too high in a gear. That's why you are under 4k RPM and the car runs like crap.

1 more post for you Razz and you will have 11 100 posts! I don't know what to say other than plugs coils and wires... Maybe the car or the coils are overheating since they might have been there for too long?

Yes they were left handers. My RPMS were pretty high during the turn between 7-9K.

fuel starve in left hand turns..

naw. you guys make that stuff up..

beers

Only when we drink... :beer05:.. ahh....

i would just keep it in 3rd or 4th to keep the high rpms. the 8 does not perform well below 4100 rpm. after 4100 you can hear and even feel a boost of power its like vtec for the 8.

Is there anyway to prevent to fuel starve? What actually causes it?

Thanks!

no, search!

only solution is for racing so slow down.

I agree with Razz, there should be no reason to encounter fuel starvation while driving on normal roads. Most of us experience this while at the track or doing autoX. There are a few ways to remedy the problem but they can be a bit on the expensive side. You could always buy an '09 fuel pump from the dealer and fit it to your car, there have been a couple guys here that have gone that route due to having issues on the track and it seemed to fix there problem for now.

I get the same issue on higher speed, longer left hand corners, but I have had the issue starting at 3/4 of a tank!!

I've heard of all the 1/4 or below fuel levels but never at 3/4 full tank. Most likely failing fuel pump?

I was at a very hilly and turn happy road course on sunday and whenever the fuel gauge went to 3/4 or lower I would get the stutter on the two longer left hand corners.

speeding on streets not good. :icon_no2:

Could be, I have heard others talk about having starvation at 3/4 full. Might want to pull the pump and check the filter sock?

I'm going to run a can of BG44K thru the car. See if that makes a difference. I'd much rather purchase an 09 fuel pump from someone that can get it thru mazdaspeed just so I don't have to worry about it in the future.

Well, it's not side draft carburetion. ;)

As we know we have relatively low torque to begin with and 5th being 1:1 and 6th being overdrive you have even less. Get it down to 3rd gear where it belongs on cloverleaf’s/onramps.

Next would be fuel pump sock restriction.
