Possible coil problem, Will not start?
 

I have an 04 with 40,000 miles and it will not start. I started it and it was running fine, for about 1 minute then stopped. I had new plugs to put in, and I did the next day with no results. It is getting fuel and cranks like hell. I have checked all the fuses. Have the coils been known to just die that fast? Or should I look elsewhere?
Any help would be appreciated.

Was the CEL on or flashing just before in stalled/shut off?
Did you notice if the lights were dimming just before it shut off (like the alternator wasn't charging)?

As you can tell its difficult to narrow down without more info.
Do you have (or know anyone who has) a code reader to help us understand better?

Unfortunately I had just finished buffing and polishing it and had started the car and got out to let it warm up while I cleaned up and then it quit. So I did not get to see the ECL and the lights were not on. I do not have a reader but I have a friend that does. Any code in particular to look for when I borrow his code reader.

flooded perhaps

As long as it'll read the CAN protocol you'll be fine

But it shouldn't just flood while the car was running.

but if it stalled before it warmed up fully...and then tried to restart

05rex8 is correct in the possible cause of not restarting. If the car for some reason stalled with only a minute of operation it is possible that it flooded.
I would pull a spark plug and check it out. If it's all wet then yes it's flooded.

:banghead: I'm not saying its not flood NOW.
But the issue is that his car suddenly shut off after running for one minute.
We need to think about what caused it to shut off on its own (and possibly flood) or else it might happen again.

The one thing that was in there but not explained well on my part was that I did change the plugs the next day, and since I know of the flooding problem I took the old plugs out the day before and let the motor sit with the holes open before installing them. I have never had the stalling problem in the past, the car has always ran good. I will see if I can get the codes checked tonight after work and see what comes up there, I will post that tonight.

Rick- More is involved with deflooding the engine then just removing the plugs and letting it sit.
With the plugs removed you want to crank the engine to help flush the fluid out through the spark plug holes.
But you also don't want it to add more fuel while cranking, so you remove the wire harness attached to the Eccentric Shaft Positioning Sensor to cut off the fuel delivery and you should also remove the harness connecting to the secondary air pump.

Well that was it! Holy Christ I have never seen anything like that! For all of those that think these things won't flood or it hasnt happened to them just wait til it does! It had never happened to me, now it has.
