Possible bad fuel pump?

Alright, I know you guys keep saying that my hard start issue is due to bad compression, but I have in the last few months had that tested and been told it was fine. I am still having starting issues. Now, I was just reading another thread about starting issues that said this:

"It's typically the fuel pump if:
- The engine shuts of by itself while running
- The shut off is abrupt with no RPM droop
- The shut off is usually under higher fuel demand points
- It is impossible to immediately refire, usually waiting about 20 minutes lets it fire right up"

Now, the first three I dont notice because I dont drive it. But the fourth one is exactly what it does. Once it gets hot and I try to restart it acts like it wants to (cranks over acting like its firing but doesnt start) and will not start no matter how hard I try until it cools off. Could it be a bad fuel pump causing all the starting issues?

Should also add that I did have to replace the pump due to a large leak where the fuel line connects, but went with a used pump.

So you got a rotary specific compression test and they gave you 8 separate numbers like:
8.0
8.2
8.1
RPM: 265
7.9
7.8
8.0
RPM: 268
?

Otherwise you still don't know if your engine is good.

Also, technically yes, if an engine, rotary or piston, can't get fuel it won't start.

Did you check the pressure it put out? How do you know the pump was still good if you bought it used?

Get the fuel pressure checked.

Not to be a d*ck, but if you can't afford a new fuel pump, this is not a good car to own.

I have the funds for a new pump now. At the time I did not. And yes, I did have a rotary specific test done. I will have to get the numbers when I get off work but yes. Now, as for fuel pump. Replace the whole assembly? Or is there a replacement pump itself?

Is it possible to take the pump out of the cracked housing and put it in the housing of the used pump I bought? Cause I know the old pump had the right pressure but was leaking at the pump

If it just the top lid...that is relatively easy to swap out. Most difficult part is the fuel line from the pump to the lid.

It was just the top lid. It was leaking right where the fuel line connects. Do I need any replacement parts to swap that?
