Please help me figure out whats wrong with my car!!!
Ok here it is, I live in CO and for the first time last Sun I drove my 8 up to Rocky Mountain National Park and it was doing great but then heading back out of Estes park (alt. +/- 8000 above sea level) the car just quit. It was very similar to the last time something like this had happened and I ended up haveing a bad ignition coil so I picked up some new coils and found that I had 2 that were bad... I replaced them and tried to start the car but I still woulden't run so thru process of elimination I thought that I had a plug issue to so I got a new set of plugs put them in and well It still wont run for shit. (the old plugs were very black and gunky mainly on rotor 1) Its giving me 2 codes. P0102- Mass or volume circuit low input and P0301- Cylinder 1 misfire detected... so if anybody can help me figure out whats going on I would greatly appreciate it!!! :tear:

what year, manual or auto, have you had a compression test, has the cat been checked?
|
New MAF?
|
Its a 2004 6 spd I have not had the cat checked and or compression test, I thought it might be the MAF but I wanted to get the opinion of other people before I start to take it apart. Would any of these things cause it to suddenly just go out or would there be any precursers to it. And would the MAF or cat going out take the coils and plugs with it?
|
If you reset the ECU does the MAF code come back?
If it does I would try and borrow a known working MAF to try..and go from there |
You can start the car without a maf so I don't think that's it .
|
I reset it and the only code to come back so far is the P0301 but thats only after runnung for about 30sec... I dont want to run it any longer than that because only one rotor is fully functioning right now and it sounds like crap when its running, It won't idle either I have to give it a little gas just to keep it running.

compression test time :(
oh - check you got the coil leads to the right plugs .... |
Great!!! :banghead:
