Please help? Low top speed

It's had a low top speed ever since I've had but it's a little uncommon I'm guessing because reading the threads I see it's common to top out around 125-130 for an AT transmission but mine doesn't go beyond 90 mph.... Which is kinda pathetic considering I had "98 Honda accord that would get 110. Has over 100,000 miles on it But it accelerates fine very zippy but it top speed is ridiculously low. Bought it used could this be a speed limiter or another problem?

Clearly, something's wrong with your engine; the car is easily capable of reaching speeds in excess of 130-140 mph. Take it to your Mazda dealer, or a good independent rotary mechanic.

Thats what I figured but it's been to the dealer twice and they never have anything to say. they mentioned my spark plug wires during my last tune up but I changed all that myself. Any ideas?

How does the car stop accelerating is it due to you hitting the limiter in the top gear, if so your car might not be changine into the top gear, which is 4th on the older models I think.
Does the car just run out of power which would indicate something wrong with the engine.

i had that problem before (with another car) and it was the transmission.it accelarated and only went up to 85 miles. im not a mecanic but you can check that or fuel pump, ignition or the engine. it all depends how the car feels..

Try cleaning your fuel sock.

It's either fuel, spark or air. Check the air filter, spark plugs and coils. Clean the MAF sensor.
