Please advise ssv switch bypassed?

Hi
I have just removed my ssv, I have noticed that there is no impact switch on the valve and the connector that should go to the switch is just permanently shorted with a peice of wire. Sounds like the previous owner had removed the switch for some reason, what effect has doing that had on the running of the engine? Thanks Antony

What I am asking is do all the 231 rx8 ssv's have the impact switch? Mine is a 2008. I have priced up an ssv and whether I need one is going to be the difference between the car being scrapped or fixed.

Cheers

Antony

Just short the wire? Lol

Whoever did that, any rx8 lover will punch him in the face

Effects? U lose a bit of low end power

The solenoid(switch?) Isnt that expensive

Basically it is telling the ecu that the ssv is open all the time when it is actually closed. The ssv is working as required but the ECU is just getting a constant indication is the ssv being open.

I wonder why it has never thrown a code for ssv stuck open?

Thanks

Antony

Hi!
I found the same. My 231cv is from 2006 and the ssv came without switch and at the other side was connected like bypass.
I putted a new ssv because it was knocking (clac clac clac). These new came with switch so I connected to the car.

Didn’t see nothing different.
