Passenger power window - thunking noise

Anyone else experience a thunking noise when putting a window up or down? It's a single thunk on the glass when power is first applied. I intend to pull off the door panel and investigate this weekend, any pointers?

Thanks.

Mine has always done on both windows that since I got it. First time operating you get the thunk. After that it's quiet and smooth.
Let me know what you find.

Clean the very top of the window really good. In other words.....roll the window down just a pinch and clean the very top as much as you can along the entire length. Sometimes that top area never gets cleaned(as we tend do do it with the windows up) and it can hang up on the rubber seal at the top, then the motor overcomes it and you can get a thunk. Worth a shot.

Mazurfer,

I thought of that, but when the thunking started, it was most prominent moving the window up. I can move the window halfway down, and then cycle the power up/down repeatedly, with the thunking occurring almost half the time in either direction. Thanks though, it's a good hypothesis.

Yikes...............that doesn't sound real good. Might want to pull that side panel off and have a looksee. I'm not sure what ours look like, but I've seen ones on other cars before where the glass is held onto the track mechanism by two bolts, and have seen one bolt be loose causing that noise as it doesn't ride up and down exactly right. Just food for thought..........ya better take a look and see if it's catching on something as well.
Stuff you've already probably thought of.
