Parking Brake Loose

My parking brake became loose today. Normally instead of tightening after several clicks it kinda popped and had no resistance whatsoever. So later during the day I decided to torque the 10mm bolt that was there. It's the white cable.

And I guess I over-torqued it and it snapped since the parking brake wasn't any tighter. So now the cable is still there but the end part is missing. How can I get this fixed?

You order and install a new cable.

I eventually realized it after doing some research and stuff. I guess the previous person used the hell out of the parking brake.

Is there anywhere I can look for a direct fit or replacement part. Like online mazdaparts.com or something?

Honestly I think I'd take it to a dealer. There are a couple bend marks on the metal bits surrounding the parking brake that look like someone might have been prying things apart and not being careful about it. I'd want someone who's seen a few hundred of those parking brake mechanisms to look at the bend marks and determine if any damage has been done.

Thanks frystormer. I'll have a mechanic take a look at it before taking it to a dealer to avoid the huge markup. It's an 09 and is 100miles shy of 60K so I am wondering what issues I should have checked. So far my guess is just that the prior person had a lot of fun drifting or something.

I just ran into the exact same problem and over torqued the E-Brake tightening nut. The screw section broke off. How did you resolve the issue? If you went to the dealer or a local mechanic, how much did it cost to fix? Thanks!
