P2259 & P0076 Error Codes (Check Engine Light)

Good Morning Everyone!

Had my check engine light come on about two weeks ago and I purchased a device off of Amazon to read the errors.

At first I just had the P2259 error. I then cleared the faults on the ECU and the check engine light stay off for about 100 miles. Came back on last night and now I have two error codes (P2259 and P0076).

I know after reading through tons of post on here and other forums, I'm most likely going to need to replace the Air Solenoid and the SSV Solenoid. Which I will be doing myself since its seems to be fairly straight forward from what I have been reading.

My question to everyone, has there been any other conclusions to why the Solenoid(s) went bad? Since I see I'm going to have to replace two, I'm going to buy three and just do them all while I have the Upper Manifold off.

Anything else I should do or know before proceeding?

Thanks in advance!

Solenoid is an electronic valve, what makes you think it never fails ?

it sits at one of the hottest location (right on top of the freaking engine), it's just the matter of time.

and as RX8 ages, more and more of these failures gonna pop up.

Just replace them and it will be good again.

but mind you, there are 3 gaskets you need to replace, one is throttle body, the other 2 is the Upper intake manifold, + the 2 solenoids. get those stuff before you start your project (or before you hand your car someone for a fix)

Yeah, I'll be replacing the parts myself.

I have the part number for the solenoids (KL01-18-741), but what about the Throttle Body and Upper Intake Manifold?

Enough Gunk For You?
You may come across what's in the above link if you completely remove the UIM. It's just condensation built up which can be avoided by not driving "short trips and making sure your oil is fully up to temp before shutting down." -9krpmrx8

Here's the partial removal link of a DIY I did: P2259 - Locating the Air Solenoid

is there an easy way to get to the solenoids?

Grace_Excel 07-28-2013 07:44 AM

If you have little girly hands, you can just reach behind the UIM and pull it

enigne light on

I took my car to a shop and they told me I needed to replace the O2 sensor over 300.00 later replaced and light still on,,then they said 2 solenoids were bad another 479.00 later the light is out,,but I had paid for the sensor the day before when they ordered the part and then did the same thing the next day when they ordered the 2 solenoids and then came in the next day to get the job done and the office guy tells me it is going to cost more,,,they charged me 69.99 an hour for the O2 sensor and then they changed the rate to 79.99 for the solenoids and then he tells me I have to pay for them both to be replaced,,,they are right next to each other and don;t you get charged for the job as in how long it takes?? Not sure,,I was ticked when I had already paid for the job and then he charges me more I don;t think that was right,,he even asked me how much I paid for my car,,,I think he thought I had money and being a woman I think I was taken,,,,,but now the light is off,,,,after spending almost 800.00....just crazy. Is there anyone near Ft.Myers Florida that works on our car?? I need someone new to take care of my car,.

Hi, unfortunately there are a lot of unscrupulous shops out there that habitually lie to make money.
There have been several examples recently.
Hopefully someone in Florida will point you in the right direction.
Good luck!
