Limp Mode, TCS/DSC Indicator, CEL P2112?
Disclaimer: I have very little mechanical ability and having the dealership or other look at it may be the only outcome but I did hope to do a little background info gathering through your collective wisdom.
I've got a 2006 RX8. I parked it at the San Francisco airport for 8 days (cold but not C-O-L-D), indoors. When I got back in late last night it started with both the TCS/DSC Indicator and CEL on. It was in Limp Mode (wouldn't go above 14 mph). I drove it part of the way home, then encountered the tiniest hill I was not going to get past, fortunately there was a gas station there, so I pulled in and prepared to call AAA. I let it run and it began to falter slightly so I turned it off. I had probably turned it off and on about a half dozen points over the past 40 minutes. Anyway, I called AAA and then started it again and voila. No TCS/DSC indicator, CEL still indicating but it would rev all the way and I drove home no problem.
Today I had someone check and clear the engine code, and it's P2112. I haven't driven it; not sure if the next time I move it should be directly to the dealer or if there's something I might try to clear, tighten, etc.
The only thing that has been off over the past while is occasionally a whiff of what I think is transmission fluid, like if you ever rev the car WAY too hard you would get that specific slightly burned fragrance? I've had that from time to time and got it again when I got the car to rev hard after the successful restart.

The P2112 code is for a throttle system problem....
I would clean the connections at the throttle body with electrical contact cleaner and see if it goes away
The Drive by Wire throttle system has redundant sensors that control the pedal logic. If it doesn't like any of the readings it sees it goes into limp mode like you experienced

Did you ever figure out the issue with this? I dont care about reviving the old thread, my 8 is having the same damn issue and I cant figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
