P1688 & Passenger radiator fan not working...

New to me 2004 4-port getting a p1688 code, read quite a bit on this forum already about the code and I'm in a bit of a limp mode; max 40mph and would rev up very slowly...

I know the likely culprits (omp & pcm connectors) but just wondering if the passenger radiator fan could be causing the limp mode/code. I do have a data logger (odb II reader for my phone) just I can watch temps, which I'll do next time I have time...

Probably going to have my mechanic look and at it but any additional information would be very beneficial and/or helpful. Thanks in advance.

I doubt that the rad fan could cause it to go into limp mode. Find a mechanic who is at least somewhat knowledgeable on rotaries. It could also be that you're OMP isn't adjusted correctly or it could even be faulty. But as you probably know, the OMP is critical to the engine's survival, so get it fixed ASAP. Any issues OMP related that aren't corrected=engine failure

most likely its ur omp going south. u can try to play around with it see if it comes back to life, but I mean it's just a stepping motor so sooner or later it will fail.

I've read from others state the OMP rarely fails, it's the electrical or 'adjustment' issues related to it that causes it to short out. Since the car went into the 'limp' mode (~40mph), I've only driven it straight home (1/4 mile away from house)...

Thanks for the feedback.
