P0302 cylinder 2 misfire

Hey guys,
I scanned the forums and got some quality information on this problem already, but I’m not sure if my problem is more specific.

I have a 2005 Series I with 80,000 Miles. Recently I:
changed the sparks
added BHR coils
seafoamed the engine
added a Borla Catback exhaust
added a BHR midpipe

I have not had a misfire until this morning...
The temperature outside was about 35 degrees F. Both misfires occurred in 2nd gear at >8,500rpms. It was a blinking CEL that went away within 15 seconds.

Now ive driven loads since doing the sparks/coils so it leads me to believe it has to do with the Midpipe. Any input, advice will help!
thanks

A midpipe can't induce misfires unless it's clogged. Does yours include a catalytic converter?

Get data on fuel trims and airflow at idle using an OBD scanner. That may help point to the root cause.

You may also want to perform the 20-time brake press procedure (google it) to make sure the eccentric shaft position sensor is reading well and visually inspect and clean that sensor if necessary.

Higher chance that one of your spark plugs isn't performing properly, pull em out and check them first thing I'd say.

How many misfire free miles have you put on the car since replacing ignition components?

Thanks for the replies.

My midpipe is Catless so I’ll check that off the list.

Iv put about 200 Miles on since doing the spark plugs. What should I look for when I pull them? Also I have a different set of plug wires, maybe I’ll trade those out and see if that solves it.

The hardest part is I just took it back out and it redlined fine with no CEL. It only seems to be certain occasions. My fuel tank is full btw.

2005 rx8 throwing P0302 engine code

Alright excuse me being a noob and all but this is my first rx8. I searched and searched and can’t find anything similar to my circumstances. So I have had this car for about a week. The motor was redone 12,000 miles ago so I wouldn’t think it would be the apex seals, so here the problem.

As I was driving to class I got on it, I was at about 8,000 rpms (car was warm and at running temp) and it started shooting smoke out the exhaust, it started sputtering, and check engine light started flashing. This is the first it’s done this sort of thing. I just popped the hood and there’s oil coming out of my intake? I premix .05 oz to every gallon and just changed my oil so could there be too much oil getting into the cylinder? I checked the code at autozone and they were saying fuel pump but i wanted to get on here before I spent $300 on a new one and that not be the case. The oil in the intake really has me worried.

did you overfill the oil? you need to clean out the intake, maf, replace air filter and check oil level. how old is the ignition system?

I think I may have for some reason it said 6.7 quarts on one website but it looks like everyone is putting 4.5 quarts in it. How much do you put in yours

6.7q is the entire oil system. oil coolers and lines included. you dont get that all out when doing a normal oil change. ~5qts is normal but check it as you fill. you need to check level, clean intake, maf and change air filter most likely

Oohhhh yeah that would make sense.... I feel really stupid now... don’t think that would hurt it do you? Only drove it today. I have a k&n air filter that I’m cleaning right now and I will clean everything else tomorrow when I drain that extra oil out.

dont run it till oil is at proper level and everything is cleaned out. the accordian tube is a pita to clean oil out of. only use maf on the the sensor. should be fine after that
