overheating trouble! need help
 

today i was driving around over the freeway, about a 20 min drive, and wen i got to the mall i was looking for parking, i noticed steam coming from my engine and i looked down n my temp guage read very hot. So I tried releaving the pressure in the radiator and refilling it, and drove it some more, and it was still over heating. however, wen travelling fast, like over the highway, its keeping cool, im guessing the wind blowing on the radiator is helping. I am not sure what the problem is, I am hoping it is something simple, but if anyone can tell me what to look at, I can fix it myself, i just dont know what I should be looking for. Im thinking thermostat may be sticking, but ya, not sure, any help will be greatly appreciated, im borrowing my friends car and my car is sitting at his house so I need to get it fixed asap. please help :D thanks in advance

Sounds like the electric cooling fans have stopped functioning. Check fuses in the fuse box under the hood.

Then check to see if the fan blades turn easily or not ( disconnect battery to be safe)

The OEM fans fail...usually the passenger side one from the coolant overflow spillage..that blows the fuse..and the car overheats easily

where are you located?

listen to Easy and Dannobre, those are the mostl likely culprits to what's going on.
The fuse could have blown or there could be something obstructing the fans from turnign properly. It should be fairly easy to diagnose so let us know what you find.
