Onced jacked up, if I free spin the left front wheel there is a grinding noise
So I was changing my oil today (figured i'd try 10w40 :), However while lifted in the air I was free spining the tires. The front driver side tire spun around smooth and quiet, the front passenger side had a metal grinding noise the whole time I was spining it. I have linea corsa 19's but they dont scrub at all. Could bad breaks on that one side do it? If so how, because care is in neutral and front tires are able to free spin. Any suggestions of what to check?
By the way car has coilovers but doubt that would have anything to do with it. |
It could be as simple as the disc shield rubbing on the rotor
|
exactly that was the ONLY thing I though it could be... so i crawled under and held back the top shield and bottom shield but didnt help
|
the car is still jacked up so any other ideas?

Your choices are
Brake pads/caliper Shielding Wheels/tires Bearing Nothing else can really grind/rub Take off the wheel....open up the brake pads, check the shields....if it still grinds it is the bearing :) |
can you hear it while driving?
A bad wheel bearing will usually rumble more when cornering |
My saab used to do this when I had it jacked up never thought anything really of it and nothing ever came from it I figured it was my brake pads rubbing on the rotor surface.
