oily smell inside cabin

Hows it goin everyone just yesterday I replaced my spark plugs with OEM RE7CL

and RE9BT plugs from atkinsrotary.com, as well as swapping out my engine oil with synthetic Royal

Purple 5w20 and swapping out my diferential/ transmission with Royal Purple Maxgear 75w90.

I am getting an odd smell of oil inside the car when I first get in the car, as well as

the occasional wiff of oil while I am driving.

I don't have a clue why- I made sure my bolts were tight, made sure all the washers were in place, and checked before and after every time I drove to check for leaks- no leaks at all.

I did, however, get a little sloppy when I was pouring everything in, and I drizzled a little of the oil in the engine compartment, and got a little on my transmission housing and my diferential box-thing.

I also have the 6-speed manual version.

The smell is not coming from the engine compartment when I pop the hood, only inside the cabin of the car.

If someone could provide some insight as to why this strange smell is only in the cabin, please help me out, I would be very grateful.

It is from your trans fluid swap with RP - very common. You likely have a slight air leak in your shifter assembly/boot letting fumes in.

yes, more than likely you're smelling the gear lube.

Jack up the car spray on some engine degreaser let sit for a minute and then spray off with the hose. I had a smell in my car after getting my transmission rebuilt

great- I dont know how I can fix it, and if it will cause any harm to my transmission

It won't damage your trans. I had it for about 8 months off and on after changing the gear oil, and it eventually went away. My assumption is that it is from the little bit that gets spilled around during the change. I'd try cleaning it as described above. That could work, and if not, time will probably fix it.

It could be that dead fish thats being passed around by forum members.

Someone probably snuck up and hid it in your car.
