Oil Cooler Line Leak Need Help ASAP
 

Long story made really short.

I just got my new engine put in my baby and now my baby is slowly bleeding out oil. It wasnt before the new engine was put it but now it is and both the dealership and MNAO refuse to say they did it and will fix it. They wish me to shell out $400 give or take to replace my oil cooler lines. I narrowed down where the leak is and it is infact some of the oil cooler lines, mainly atleast to my eyes is coming from one of the oil lines that connect to the oil cooler itself (I have a 04' A/T) although the tech said it was another piece that to me connects the lines form the oil cooler itself to the motor.

I'm not ultra technical so forgive me. OnlineMazdaparts has the item listed as a Hose Assy Drivers Side. Its listed for $236.68, which is alright but right now money for me is tight so I'm hoping either someone can point me in a direction I can get one for cheaper or in the direction of using some form of Aftermarket parts to complete this repair job.

Mind you when the dealer gave me back the car they said since I declined the repair that it was just seeping out. I thought I had atleast a month or so not a week.

I also contacted Pat but no reply so far so I'm at a lost sadly.

You should have just had them fix it then...they installed the motor and now the lines are leaking? Their fault, their problem!

wow, they should really fix it. but it sounds like they just want to make some quick bux off from you

How is the leak anyway? can you tell if its like a crack in the hose itself? or just something is not secured ?

Mazda should fix it but if not just keep it cleaned up and check you oil more often unrill you can get it fixed.

cuz if its a crack in the hose itself, one day it might just burst and you'll lose all oil within a minute or so. Not good.

So try to find where the leak is asap.

This exact thing just happened to me. I waited 4 weeks for a new engine for my car. After the engine was installed, the dealer tells me the lines were corroded and leaking oil. They wanted $2500 to replace the lines. They also didn't want to release the car to me in that state do to concerns of voiding the warrenty due to the oil leak. BTW, there was no leak before the new engine was installed.
I priced a complete new set of 6 lines for $970 at Onlinemazdaparts.com (a RX8Club vendor). I quickly found someone that was doing a complete partout of a car and got the lines for $100. I had the lines shipped overnight air for another $40. The dealer installed these for $1100. Regular repair rate, for this shop, is $125/hr.
The whole ordeal left me without a car for 5 1/2 weeks. The extended drivetrain warranty doesn't give you a loaner/rental car.

Interesting...there is a recall in Canada to replace leaking oil lines :)

MNAO better get it's story straight...I'd do some major letter writing and bitching if it was my car....

agreed. Canada got that recall because of road salt.

like theres no road salt in the US? at least I know NYC spread road salt even when there is no snow. jeeze

Here in the UK we've had the recall for oil cooler lines, plus they modded the arch lines to stop the water getting in, we've also got issues with SUMPS rusting through like the oil lines,and dumping all everywhere, but MAZDA uk deny any problems about this:rant: The sumps are very thin, so if you've got rust starting i'd deal with it soon rather than later! my car is just 2 years old i was amazed by the amount of rust underneath on the sub frames,i've rubbed all the steal parts down and repainted them with hammerite.

Again I'm hoping someone has a idea if something aftermarket can be used to replace these parts or if I should attempt to find a parted out car in the FS section.

You should PM G3tR3DDY2GR3DDY he always has tons of parts. From the pic it looks like it has been leaking a while.

^I contacted G3tR (pat) but again he still hasnt gotten back to me (kinda odd 'cause he usualy does).

When I get the new part or whateva type of part I am definatly gonna look into some form of shielding for it be it some form of tape or having to put something together myself.
